At least 20 people have been killed in a bomb blast at the Sabon Gari local council in Zaria, today.
A suspected suicide bomber targeted civil servants at a government building in the city, witnesses and emergency workers have rushed to the scene to help evacuate the wounded.
This came a day after police chief Solomon Arase announced new measures to curb the rise in bombings. They include:
  • banning street trading and hawking in the capital, Abuja
  • strengthening security at all mosques and churches countrywide.
The attack comes a day after some 182 people accused of links to Boko Haram were released.

Same-sex kiss seals World Cup triumph

During the women world cup finals and USA's memorable 5-2 triumph over Japan was sealed, with the crowd roaring, as cameras flashed, Abby Wambach chose an unforgettable way to celebrate by running to the stadium's edge and leapt into the stands to kiss her "wife" Sarah Huffman.

For many fans, the pair's tender embrace was the perfect tribute to the historic U.S. Supreme Court ruling legalizing gay marriage across the nation more than a week ago. Wambach and Huffman were married in 2013 in Hawaii.

Excited fans shared the moment on Twitter, adding the hashtag #LoveWins.

There was another reason the kiss came just in the nick of time: Wambach, 35, has said this World Cup would almost certainly be her last -- and her final chance to win the coveted title.

The two-time Olympic Gold medalist and 2012 FIFA World Player of the Year watched most of the final match from the sidelines but when she came on the field as a substitute in the 79th minute, the stadium erupted with the chanting of her name.

Bill Cosby Admitted He Gave Drugs to Women: Court Documents

Finally Bill accepted he did something...

Some court documents newly surfaced, show that Bill Cosby admitted to obtaining prescriptions for drugs to give to women that he wanted to have sex with.

Back in 2005, Cosby found himself at the center of a lawsuit in which a former Temple University employee was accusing the comedian of drugging and sexually assaulting her.

A Pennsylvania judge yesterday, ruled that 16 documents pertaining to the case could be unsealed.

The paperwork details Cosby's deposition, including the moment when he was asked by the woman's attorney, "When you got the Quaaludes, was it in your mind that you were going to use these Quaaludes for young women that you wanted to have sex with?"

Cosby replied, "Yes."

The 77-year-old also testified that he gave the female alleging the assault three half-pills of Benadryl. He also attested to purchasing a total of six prescriptions of Quaaludes back in 1976--the year that the alleged sexual assault described in the lawsuit took place.

Per the documents, he also recalled an encounter in the 1970s in Las Vegas with a woman whose name was redacted. "She meets me back stage. I give her Quaaludes. We then have sex," he's quoted as saying.

Cosby was ultimately not charged in connection with these claims and this case was dismissed with prejudice one year after his deposition.

The latest Cosby bombshell comes just weeks after a pre-taped interview on ABC's Good Morning America where he tried to dodge questions regarding the many allegations made against him.

During the sit-down, he was asked how he felt the younger generation is responding to the ongoing scandal surrounding the star.

"I think many of them say, 'Well, you're a hypocrite. You say one thing. You say the other.' My point is, 'OK, listen to me carefully. I'm telling you where the road is out. You want to go here or you want to be concerned about who is giving you the message?'"

Cosby, who has never been criminally charged, continued, "I have been in this business 52 years and I've never seen anything like this. Reality is the situation and I can't speak. I really don't know about what I'm going to do tomorrow. I have a ton of ideas to put on television about people and their love for each other."

Money Rain: Buhari approves another N1.2 trillion

This is really "Money rain"

Pres. Buhari on Monday approved multiple intervention packages totalling N1.2 trillion to help bankrupt states pay workers owed for several months.

At least 12 of the 36 states of the federation are believed to be owning their workers over N110billion in salaries and allowances. States like Osun, Rivers, Oyo, Ekiti, Kwara, Kogi, Ondo, Plateau, Benue, and Bauchi states and from calculations the outstanding public workers' pay amounts to N250 billion.

The differential takes care of federal workers also owed for months.

On Monday, Pres. Buhari also approved, first, the sharing between the federal and 36 states governments, of $1.7billion of the $2billion balance in the Excess Crude Account which is about N402 billion - $.3billion remaining in the account which was created to help the two tiers of government save for raining days.

Besides the Excess Crude Account, government sources that the president also approved another three-pronged relief package to end workers’ plight.

Hmm! Hope the money goes where it is  supposed to be distributed.

The lineup featured other '90s musicians, including Juvenile, Mint Condition, Tweet and J.J. Williamson.

Bobby performed his biggest hits, like "My Prerogative," but often flubbed the lyrics. "Y'all got me forgetting s--t," he said. "I am in a different zone right now," he added, seemingly alluding to his 22-year-old daughter, who recently went into hospice care after a January incident left her unresponsive and unconscious. "If I go somewhere else, please join me on that trip, because it's gonna be a good trip."

The audience supported Bobby, cheering, "We understand!". At one point during the concert, Bobby assured fans that he was in his happy place. Leaving the stage several times to hug his brother, Tommy Brown.

Since Bobbi Kristina was placed in hospice care June 24, it's been difficult for Bobby to find that happy place. As his New Edition bandmate Johnny Gill recently told Entertainment Tonight, his state of mind is "not good" as of late. "We just had a conversation yesterday. I wouldn't wish this on my worst enemy."

We do understand Bobby, we are also praying for Bobbi Kristina.

Police invite Ekweremadu over forgery of Senate rules

The Inspector General of Police, Solomon Arase, has invited Mr. Ekweremadu to report at the Force Headquarters in Abuja on Monday(today) over forgery of Senate rules.

According to the APC, the rules used for the election of both Senator Bukola Saraki as senate president and Ike Ekweremadu as deputy senate president were forged.

The extant rules at the end of the 7th Senate early in June, this year clearly spelt out that the election of the principal officers shall be by open ballot. This was the rule senators adopted in 2011 and remained till the end of the life of the 7th Senate.

The PDP spokesperson, Olisa Metuh, who addressed a press conference on Sunday in Abuja after said this was a plot to arrest and detain the Deputy Senate President, Ike Ekweremadu.

Mr. Metuh said the APC leadership is not happy with the emergence of Mr. Ekweremadu, a PDP member, as the Deputy Senate President and that after several attempts to make him resign, has now resorted to underhand tactics.

He said since President Muhammadu Buhari’s statement that Mr. Ekweremadu’s election was ‘unacceptable’ to his party, the Deputy Senate President, who can only be removed by the Senate, has come under threats and intense pressure from APC leaders to resign and allow a senator from the ruling party to take his position.

The 32-year-old added another after Japan failed to clear a free-kick.

After USA's midfielder, Carli Lloyd scored a wonder goal which completed a first Women's World Cup final hat-trick and made her the tournament's joint top scorer along with Germany's Celia Sasic, it ended the game as a contest.
